Introducing safe and powerful Wireless Charging for your devices

What is wireless charging?

Wireless charging is the transmission of energy from a power source to a device, without the use of wires or cables. This means that you could charge your smartphones and other devices without plugging them into a charger! WestCharge’s range of wireless chargers does just that.

How does it work?

Every wireless charging operation involves 2 parts – a wireless transmitter, (like our chargers); and a receiver, which is inside the device being charged. Some devices, and older smartphones do not have receivers inbuilt. In such cases, these devices can be charged using wireless charging receivers, or converters as we call them.

Imagine putting your smartphone onto a table coaster, and your phone suddenly starts to charge. It’s that easy and convenient! As users spend more time on their devices, and with smartphone batteries getting bigger, heavier, and taking longer to charge, people also want more convenient charging options.

Is Wireless Charging just a new marketing trick?

Not at all! Wireless charging has been around for more than 100 years. Famous inventor Nikolai Tesla, who is the father of modern electric supply systems, is legendary for his groundbreaking experiments using wireless power transfer in the 19th century. It is for this reason that a very popular electric car company was named after him!

Wireless charging had, for various reasons, not become popular in the 20th century. Due to massive improvements in technology, circuits, and chips – wireless charging is now affordable, fast, and efficient – and it is here to stay! Many device manufacturers, including companies like Apple and Samsung, say that it is a matter of “when”, and not “if” they remove charging ports from their devices.

How do I prepare my devices for a wireless future?

WestCharge wireless chargers are future proof and ready to plug and use. Our chargers follow the strict Qi standard certification, set by the global industry body – the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). The WPC counts all major smartphone manufacturers and supports many thousands of phone models. This means our chargers are specifically built to safely charge all major smartphones and other devices – both new and old models. For devices which are wireless charging compatible, WestCharge chargers can be used out of the box. For devices which don’t support wireless charging, including older devices –  WestCharge Wireless charging converters can be plugged into the device and used on WestCharge chargers. We welcome you to a future without wires, and we’re here to help you realise it!
